*Today I am listing yet another installment of saxophone gear that I am selling on consignment for saxophonist Frank Catalano. For those of you who may not be familiar, Frank is a true heavy hitter in the jazz world and has been featured on multiple Grammy winning albums. He is also the quintessential gear hound, having amassed a collection of over 500 mouthpieces! He now endorses and plays Jody Jazz mouthpieces exclusively, so he is purging some of his massive collection of mouthpieces acquired over many years. Be sure to check out my other listings for more great items from this collection. There will be more to come later, so add me to your favorites list and check back to see new additions.

his listing is for a vintage tweed "doubler" style tenor saxophone case. The case previously contained a Selmer SBA tenor, so it dates to the late 1940's or early 1950's. There is no Selmer badge on it, but there is a badge for the maker, Frost Stone ("a quality case"). This case originally had a clarinet case insert, but that is missing. There is a spot on the underside of the case lid for a flute though. The exterior has a goldenrod tweed covering, and the interior is royal blue velvet. This case is fairly well worn. Most of the exterior leather trim is missing, and there are spots where the tweed covering is scuffed away to reveal the underlying wood shell. There also appears to be some white paint splattered on it in a couple of spots. The dovetailing is coming apart at one corner, as seen in the pictures. Both handles are still present. The leather wrap is coming off the one on the end. Surprisingly, the latches still spring open. The keys are long gone, of course. The inside shows normal light wear.
It is a little musty from being stored closed up for a long time, but I think it would be fine once it is allowed to air out for a while.
There is a small swath of blue velvet that has come unattached from the belt that goes around the sax bell.
This is by no means a primo condition case, but it is very rare to find these old Selmer cases at all!
Please feel free to email me with any questions.
    Thanks again for looking!
    Note to international buyers:
Due to the current global pandemic, international shipments via USPS mail are experiencing significant delays. This is due to lack of available transportation (ie. mail is normally carried overseas as cargo on commercial passenger flights, however the flight schedules have been slashed). European buyers have experienced wait times of up to 2 months for shipments to arrive. If this potential wait presents a problem for you, please refrain from purchasing at this time. I sincerely apologize for this, unfortunately unavoidable, inconvenience.
