    Description

This is an Original WW1 WWi Imperial German Lionhead Infantry Officers Dress Sword.  This is a very uncommon sword, this style of sword was used throughout Germany, Austria Hungry, and some other central powers.  So this style of sword is not uncommon to find and was used wildly.  These lionhead swords are far more uncommon to find, normal versions of this swords are very plain, no special designs on it, especially the hilt.  This one, as can be seen is the photos, has lots of designs on it, and these were reserved for officers only, not standard troops.  This sword is in overall good condition.  I spent a few hours cleaning it up, though I didn't remove any rust or do anything major like this, I was tempted too, but it might hurt the collectors value, so you have the choice to leave it in original condition or remove the rust.  It doesn't look like there is any active rust on the sword, the rust is very light at the tip through mid blade, the blades designs can bee seen pretty clearly, it get heavy at the base though.  There is no chipping on the hilt of the sword, all the designs are very clear and in great condition.  The sword is not loose, its very tightly attached to the hilt with no wobbling at all.  There is still the cloth material at the baste of the sword still present, this is uncommon as they're usually rotted away or torn off.  The sword is completely original and unaltered, although it would be hard to remove all the rust if desired.
