    Description

The German “Butcher Blade” Bayonet M1898/05 succeeded the German Long Bayonet M1898. These bayonets are often called “butcher blades,” due to their resemblance to a butcher's knife. It had a strong design but was still very long. In the beginning of the World War I, it came without flash-guard and with high ears (Bayonet Model 1898/05 a.A.). In 1915 the German Bayonet Model 1898/05 n.A. was introduced. It had the
the addition of a thin sheet of steel as muzzle fire protection on top of the grip and smaller ears.  The
German Bayonet Model 1898/05 n.A is what I am selling.  STAHLBLUME; FERD. SCHLEUTERMANN; REMSCHEID HASTEN is written on the blade. On top of the blade is written W15. The Bayonet Blade & Handle are worn and in good condition. The Bayonet Scabbard is worn and has multiple dents (look at photos under zoom). I SUSPECT the Bayonet and Scabbard was used in Combat from its condition but I CANNOT authenticate it was used in Combat. Dimensions: Total Length 20-1/2”; Blade Length: 14-1/2”; Scabbard Length: 15-1/4”.
