    Description

    Bolivia 10 Bolivianos Banknote
Ley 901 del 28 de Noviembre de 1986 (Law 901 of 28 November 1986) is on the note, but this Series I note printed by Oberthur was issued in 2013.
    B412d
    P238A
After researching this banknote more I really love it. I've always thought this portrait was inconsistent with those on other Bolivian banknotes in the same series. Almost a caricature, while the others are more typically representative and traditional. But this is because it is based on one of
    Guzmán de Rojas'
self-portrait paintings. Also, the back has quite a story about women fighting the Spaniards in the War for Independence. The date of the battle commemorated by the monument on the banknote, May 27, is the day Bolivia celebrates Mother's Day.
    Condition
    Crisp UNC uncirculated condition.
Many modern notes have a security thread that may show some bubbling, or a dimple, at the top of the note at the strip. In the printing process, when the notes are run through high speed counters, a dimple is created where the strip is on the top of the note. This does not disqualify the note as UNC.
    Description
Front: Portrait of artist Cecilio Guzmán de Rojas (1899-1950), based on one of his self-portraits. Guzmán de Rojas was one of the leaders of the indigenous art movement in the first half of the 20th Century. Bolivian coat of arms. Latent image of the central bank initials: BCB.
Back: The monument Heroinas del la Coronilla (Heroines of the Crown) on the hill of San Sebastián, overlooking the city of Cochabamba. The Battle of Coronilla took place in 1812 during the Bolivian War of Independence. In this battle, most of the men had been killed so the women took up arms against the Spaniards. The date of the battle, May 27, is now celebrated as Mother's Day in Bolivia.
